James W. Eassey

James W. Eassey, 94, of Rocky River, passed away February 8, 2019 at O’Neill Health Care in Lakewood with his loving wife by his side.
He was born in Cleveland, the son of the late Waddy and Jennie (nee Shakr) Eassey. James enlisted in the US Army during WWII and was a POW in Germany. He was honorably discharged and was awarded the Purple Heart. Upon his return home, he met Mary Ellen Gaydos and they united in marriage on February 20, 1965 and have shared 53 memorable years together in the home he built in Rocky River. James was a master craftsman, founding Eassey Builders. He and Mary Ellen enjoyed traveling together with their favorite locations being in Mexico. They also enjoyed golfing together and he was a member of the Columbia Hills Country Club. James was a kind and gentle soul and will be remembered as a loving husband, brother, uncle and friend and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
James is survived b y his beloved wife, Mary Ellen; his sisters, Lillian (Norman, deceased) Inman and Betty (Charles, deceased) Castor and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Julia (Robert) Moore.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 from 12PM-2PM at the Sunset Chapel in Sunset Memorial Park, 6245 Columbia Rd., North Olmsted, where funeral services will commence on Wednesday at 2pm. Committal services with Military Honors will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
